Outside hitter Lee Woo-jin (19), a member of the men's volleyball youth national team (under 19 years old), signed an official contract with Vero Bali Monza of the first division of Italian men's professional volleyball.

Woojin Lee, who headed to Italy through an internship contract in November of last year, successfully completed a four-month test and signed an official contract.

On the 12th, Lee Woo-jin said, “We recently signed an official contract with the Monza club. He will play for Monza for two seasons starting from the 2024-25 season.”

The club's official announcement is expected to be made in April, when the 2023-24 season ends.

Lee Woo-jin, who has a good height of 195 cm, helped Korea reach third place at the World Volleyball Under-19 Championships held in Argentina in August last year. It was the first time in 30 years that Korea ranked third, and Lee Woo-jin was also selected as one of the best seven in the competition.

Gyeongbuk Physical Education High School ace Lee Woo-jin received a love call from an Italian club thanks to his performance at the time.

During his contract process, Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life Insurance), who heard that Lee Woo-jin wanted to advance into Italy, helped by introducing his agent, Lim Geun-hyuk, CEO of I.M. Sports Consulting, who is well-versed in European situations. Ultimately, Lee Woo-jin signed a contract with Monza of the Italian first division at the end of September last year, and the club officially announced the internship contract in November. Four months have passed since then, and Lee Woo-jin finally succeeded in signing a contract as an official player. According to Lee Woo-jin, the player learned a lot by accompanying and training with his teammates in the 2023-24 season, and is preparing to make his Italian debut next season. Lee Woo-jin signed an official contract with the Monza club and became the first Korean volleyball player to advance directly to the European league upon graduating from high school. After professional volleyball was launched in 2005, Moon Seong-min (Hyundai Capital) in the men's division was scheduled to graduate from Kyonggi University in 2008. They have advanced to the German league. In the women's division, Kim Yeon-kyung played in the V-League, then played in the Japanese league on loan, then played in Turkye and Chinese leagues. Lee Woo-jin is scheduled to return to Korea next month after completing this season.
