Taliban Leader's Threat to Women's Rights
According to several news reports, the Taliban’s supreme leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, has declared that the group will soon implement the punishment of stoning women to death in public for “crimes like adultery.”
In an audio message purportedly released by the Taliban’s national broadcaster, Akhundzada challenged Western democracies, stating: “You say it’s a violation of women’s rights when we stone them (women) to death”.
