Weightlifter Kim Soo-hyun (29, Busan Metropolitan City Sports Council) performed well in the women's 81kg class at the 2024 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup and obtained a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kim Soo-hyun ranked 5th in the women's 81kg class at the competition held in Phuket, Thailand on the 10th (local time) with 112kg in snatch, 144kg in clean and jerk, and 256kg in total.

As a result, Kim Soo-hyun ranked 9th in the rankings for participation in the Paris Olympics.

In the weightlifting event at the Paris Olympics, a total of 10 weight classes will be held, including men's 61kg, 73kg, 89kg, 102kg, and 102kg overweight, and women's 49kg, 59kg, 71kg, 81kg, and 81kg overweight.

There are 12 contestants in each weight class, and one contestant in each weight class from each country. Kim Soo-hyun is ranked 9th, the highest among Korean athletes, and is virtually confirmed to participate in the women's 81kg class.

On the other hand, Kim I-seul (24, Incheon Metropolitan City Hall), who lifted 115 kg in snatch, 140 kg in clean and jerk, and 255 kg in total in the same weight class, was 1 kg less than Kim Soo-hyun in total, so her participation in the Olympics was cancelled.

Iseul Kim raised expectations by winning a bronze medal in the snatch event, but was unable to smile due to a disappointing record in the clean and jerk.
