Han Joo-yeop in the 90kg judo class appears to have a ticket to the Olympics Grand Slam Bronze Medal

Challenge yourself to advance through the Astana competition. There is also the possibility of obtaining quotas for each continent.

Han Joo-yeop is happy

Han Ju-yeop (High1), the national judo men's 90kg class representative, has approached the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Han Joo-yeop won the bronze medal by defeating Serbia's Nemanja Majudov by foul in the 2024 International Judo Federation (IJF) Dushanbe Grand Slam bronze medal match held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on the 5th (local time).

Han Joo-yeop, who is ranked 28th in the Olympic rankings, is expected to add 500 Olympic ranking points with this medal and move up to 21st place.

One athlete from each country can participate in the judo event at the Paris Olympics. To participate, you must be in the top 17 in the Olympic rankings by June 23 of this year or meet the requirements for qualifying for each continent.

Han Joo-yeop can challenge himself to advance to the Paris Olympics through the IJF Grand Slam, which will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, starting on the 10th, and the World Championships, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the end of this month.

Han Joo-yeop's chances of participating in the Paris Olympics have increased as Jeong Ye-rin (Incheon Metropolitan City Hall) in the women's 52kg class won a bronze medal in this competition.

The IJF grants one participant per country, per continent, and until this competition, Jeong Ye-rin was one of them.

However, as Jeong Ye-rin won a bronze medal at the Dushanbe Grand Slam on the 3rd, her chances of qualifying for the Olympics increased.

An official from the Korean Judo Association said, “If Jeong Ye-rin qualifies for the Paris Olympics on her own, Han Joo-yeop will inherit the right to participate in each continent.”

Korean Judo has currently secured qualifications to participate in 10 of the 14 individual weight classes at the Olympic Games.

There is fierce competition in the men's 73kg class, 90kg class, 100kg class, and women's 70kg class.

Meanwhile, Lee Hyeon-ji (Namnyeong High School), a promising athlete in the women's 78kg and over category, won the bronze medal in the bronze medal match at the Dushanbe Grand Slam on this day by defeating Croatia's Helena Vukovic in one match, half with a back kick and half with a back kick.
